Meeting with Associated British Ports
This afternoon I visited Associated British Ports, Ipswich to meet with Andy Constable, Head of Operations and Paul Ager, Divisional Port Manager. I spoke with them about Neptune Marina and their plan for its future, I shared with them how I would like to see some boats remain there.
After this meeting Andy gave me a tour or Cliff Key explaining the current trends in their business. He shared that so far this year 2 million tons of imports and exports have gone through the port. The port is the UK’s number one grain exporter and he explained how they also import and export other many other arable goods as well as construction materials.
Ipswich port currently hire 140 members of staff and I was interested to talk to them about their new agreement with Sizewell on the West Bank of the port. This agreement will see Sizewell take on 15 acres site on the West Bank for storage.
