My Meeting with Rail Minister, Chris Heaton-Harris
I was glad to be able to get the opportunity today to have a sit down discussion in Parliament with the Rail Minister Chris Heaton-Harris. I was challenging and made clear to him how unhappy many of my constituents are with the issues there have been with the Rail services they rely on over the past month. He agrees with me that it’s absurd that Greater Anglia hadn’t trained all drivers in time to use the new trains when they knew so far in advance when the trains would be introduced. The good news is that the Government will shortly be reforming rail franchising in such a way that rail operating companies will have to be far more accountable to both customers and the Government. The proof will of course be in the pudding but a positive meeting. Later this month I will be meeting with Greater Anglia and Network Rail to discuss recent issues.
