Brexit Update – Boris Gets A Deal
I’m pleased Boris has been able to secure an improved Brexit deal from the EU. When he became Prime Minister many said it would be impossible for him to re open the Withdrawal Agreement and get significant concessions, he’s proved them all wrong. As many of you will know, I had my concerns with the previous Withdrawal Agreement however given the circumstances and the forces that seem hell bent on blocking Brexit I very much hope that MPs vote for this Brexit deal on Saturday. I’ve knocked on huge amounts of doors over the past few weeks and have come across people who voted leave and remain.
The overwhelming majority of people I’ve spoken to just want this to be done and delivered so that we can move on to discussing other issues. Clearly if this deal is voted through by MPs on Saturday it won’t be the end of negotiations however it would be a major step forward. I very much hope that the Labour MP for Ipswich has been doing as much door knocking as I’ve been doing because if he had done he would be under no illusion that the vast majority of people here in Ipswich want Parliament to break free from the paralysis its been stuck in over the past few months.
