No Second Referendum
I do think it takes a certain brass neck to visit a Town where almost 40,000 people voted to leave the EU with a bus covered with such a message. Perhaps more appropriate for them to cover the bus with the message, “B******* to the 58.3%” or “B******* to what you voted for”.
Monthly Update
Another busy month. There has been a strong education focus for me over the past four weeks with five visits to secondary schools in Ipswich. At each school I met with the head teacher to discuss the challenges facing their school and what their key concerns are.
Reflections on secondary school visits
The last four weeks for me have had a strong focus on education. All in all I’ve visited five secondary schools, meeting with the head teacher at each. These meetings have been extremely useful and have given me a real insight into the challenges there are within our schools.
Ipswich needs a northern relief road – here is how we can win the campaign
During the selection process to become the Conservative Prospective Parliamentary candidate for Ipswich I made clear my support for a northern relief road for Ipswich. I’m fully aware of how significant this issue is for Ipswich and the benefits that a new road could bring.
My First Month
“I’ve had a busy few weeks meeting people across the Town. Two weeks ago I published my website outlining my five top priorities for Ipswich: 1. Fighting for improvements to transport infrastructure 2. Increasing opportunities for young people 3. Tackling crime and anti-social behaviour 4. The town center 5. Health services and Ipswich Hospital.
Budget 2018 Response
Conservative Prospective Parliamentary candidate for Ipswich, Tom Hunt, has today welcomed yesterday’s budget statement by Chancellor of the Exchequer, Phillip Hammond. However he has also stated that it must be made to work for Ipswich.
Northern Route
The overwhelming transport infrastructure priority for Ipswich is a northern relief road. Over the past month it’s been made clear to me whoever I’ve spoken to just how important this is for the Town. The reality is that this infrastructure should have been delivered 20/30 years ago but it hasn’t and the people of Ipswich have paid the price for this through increasing levels of traffic.
Apprenticeships
The Government are doing some good work to promote apprenticeships. There have been some challenges with the way the apprenticeship levy works but I’m confident these can be ironed out.
Looking forward
My name is Tom Hunt and I am the Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate for Ipswich. I was deeply honoured to be selected by local members to be the candidate and my aim between now and the next general election is to win the confidence of the people in Ipswich to be their next Conservative Member of Parliament.
